Local
electric co-op sponsors area students to Youth Leadership Congress
Local high school students were
among more than 120 teens from Wisconsin who participated in the Youth
Leadership Congress (YLC) at the UW-River Falls campus from July 7-9.
The 15 youth, sponsored by Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services (PPCS),
represented Ellsworth, Elmwood, Plum City, Prescott and River Falls high
schools.

Pepin sponsors Arbor Day event, donates trees to local elementary school
Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services
held its sixth annual Arbor Day tree-planting event at the Arkansaw
Elementary
School in Arkansaw, Wis., on April 30. With six trees donated for
planting on school grounds, fourth-grade
students were invited to learn first-hand the importance of trees and
properly planting the right tree in the right place.

Pierce Pepin reminds public of electrical safety involving motor
vehicle crashes
Motor vehicle crashes
involving utility poles occur often, sometimes bringing live power lines
to the ground or
directly on top of a vehicle. Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services
reminds the public to take extreme caution if
you’re in an accident involving downed power lines. Since you can’t tell
by looking if a power line is energized,
follow these steps to ensure your safety and the safety of others.

Pierce Pepin Co-op directors achieve Board Leadership certification
Glenn
Peterson and Richard Ruemmele, directors of Pierce Pepin Cooperative
Services (PPCS), were recently
recognized by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA)
for their completion of advanced,
issues-oriented courses concerning the electric industry. Board
Leadership certificates were presented to
Peterson and Ruemmele by PPCS Chairman Ron Johnson at the co-op’s board
meeting on October 1.

Prescott Youth and Local Co-op Donate Trees and Time to Freedom Park
Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services held its
fifth annual Arbor Day community tree-planting event at Freedom Park in
Prescott, Wis., on April 23. Fourth grade students from St. Joseph
School in Prescott helped out by “digging in” to plant four oak trees
near the Visitor Center.
