Operation Round Up® buys freezers for food shelves
Ellsworth, WI [December 20, 2011]
– In December, new freezers were delivered to four community food
pantries—Pierce County, Beldenville, Elmwood and Prescott—courtesy of
Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services’ Operation Round Up Program. The
freezers, purchased through Pierce Pepin Appliance, will provide
additional food storage for the busy times and for unexpected donations.

Gift Box program benefits from Pierce

Employees of Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services (PPCS) are making
Christmas merry for two families through the Pierce County Gift Box
Program. Participating employees chose ornaments from the “Gift Box
tree”, with each ornament listing a gift item for individual family
members.

Mental Illness awarded Operation Round Up® grant

the St. Croix Valley Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness
(NAMI) on October 24, 2011. The local
chapter is located in River Falls, Wis.

– Members of Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services are
helping stock local food shelves through
the cooperative’s Operation Round Up program. Nine area food pantries
were each awarded $2,000 during the
co-op’s July board meeting—the Pierce County Food Pantry, Pepin County
Food Pantry, Beldenville Food Pantry,
Elmwood Food Pantry, Pepin Pantry, Plum City Food Pantry, Prescott Area
Food Shelf, River Falls Food Pantry
and Spring Valley Community Food Pantry.

K-9 Unit awarded grant through Pierce Pepin’s Operation Round Up®
Ellsworth, Wis.
– Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services, through its
Operation Round Up program, awarded $1,000
to the K-9 Unit of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department at its July
board meeting. The donation will help fund a
replacement for Packer, the Department’s only police dog, which is
unable to continue service due to a major
medical condition.

Pepin sponsors area students to Youth Leadership Congress
River Falls, Wis.
– Local
high school students were among 125 teens from Wisconsin who
participated in the Youth Leadership Congress (YLC) at the UW-River
Falls campus from July 13-15. Sponsored by Pierce Pepin Cooperative
Services (PPCS), the 12 youth represented Ellsworth, Prescott, River
Falls and St. Croix Lutheran high schools.

Matzek awarded Pierce Pepin
lineworker scholarship
Ellsworth, Wis. - Matthew
Matzek, a senior at Plum City High School, has been awarded a $1,000
lineworker scholarship from Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services,
Ellsworth, Wis. To qualify, Matzek submitted an essay on “Why I want to
become a lineman”. He is the son of Robert and Lori Matzek of rural
Maiden Rock.

Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services Partners with Fourth Grade Foresters

Co-op delivers tree seedlings to area fourth graders to honor Arbor Day
Ellsworth, Wis. – As part of its
commitment to preserving the environment, Pierce Pepin Cooperative
Services
teamed up with Fourth Grade Foresters USA to provide nearly 800
evergreen tree seedlings to fourth-grade students
within the Durand, Ellsworth, Elmwood, Pepin, Plum City, Prescott, River
Falls and Spring Valley school districts.
The trees were delivered in time to celebrate Arbor Day, Friday, April
29, 2011. Each student received an individually
packaged 12-18 inch evergreen tree seedling with
instructions and safety tips for planting and
caring for their
seedling.
